By far the best sushi in Northern Michigan! The staff is always friendly, and the menu has an amazing variety of fresh, creative options. Everything we’ve tried has always been delicious and we love bringing our whole team there for work parties!

Amazing sushi place up in Traverse City! It's located inside an old elementary school and in an old classroom! The service was great and the owner was awesome. When I told him I had a gluten allergy he said he would have a new cutting board and utensils for me. There is already gluten free soy sauce on the table ready to go! Not only was it super safe to eat at but delicious as well. It's half the price you will get in town. It is totally worth the little drive for a great experience!

Hands down the best sushi in Northern Michigan! Sushi so good that you feel sad after you finish the last bite because now it's gone and that's a darn travesty. My favorite roll is the Seven Spice Tuna. The spice rub is so smoky with just the perfect amount of spice, and then shaved citrus on top is better than icing on cake. I'm also a big fan of the Dragon, Golden Tuna, King Kombu, and Gojira special rolls. Honestly, I haven't had anything there that I wasn't totally enthusiastic about--even the miso soup is the best I've ever had. And quite frankly, I wouldn't pay these prices anywhere else but at The Dojo it is worth every single penny. The people are just as amazing as the food. The owner Brent is super friendly, happy to chat, and calls you by name. His dad is equally awesome--the family aspect makes me feel really good about spending my money here. Honestly the dining room isn't my favorite (the chairs aren't super comfy) so I suppose I'll have to give it 5 stars instead of 6. BUT they're super conscientious about food allergies and are willing to change their cutting boards and everything if you need to avoid cross-contamination; all you have to do is ask. Disclaimer: These are photos from The Dojo's Facebook page, which I happily subscribe to for their drool-worthy photography. I was going to post my own pics, but then I realized that Brent never posted these beauties to Google and figured I ought to share the love.

We discovered this gem outside of Traverse city while in the area on vacation. The short drive is definitely worth it for the food. The building is a repurposed elementary school which is cool. Brent and his team are friendly and made for an enjoyable dinner.

I have gotten takeout from The Dojo several times and it has always been excellent, and a crowd-pleaser with our friends. The food has been ready when we arrived, which is always appreciated. The rolls and nigiri is very fresh and they have interesting combinations of flavors. And being in an old school is a neat concept and good reuse of space.

Everything is amazing here. The two guys working were very charismatic and made sure everything was good throughout our time. The sushi was fresh and tasted great. We got the miso soup as well, and it was amazing as well. So much flavour! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for sushi

We were very pleasantly surprised to find such good quality sushi right near Long Lake! The place is located inside the old Elementary school so it’s not easy to find. All the rolls we got were fresh & prepared perfectly. The prices were extremely affordable as well.

Ordered delivery because I have heard good things about this little sushi spot. It's off the beaten path, so find it on maps. I was not disappointed! Fresh fish and perfect sushi rice made great rolls. The Salmon Sashimi and pickled mushrooms were delicious.
